Night Lights

The other night, I was taking up the opportunity to take photos at a Chinese Lantern Parade, and the sights were exquisite to say the least. Not many people shots, but I got some nice scenery shots of the night.

These lanturns were put up everywhere, and it created quite the soothing atmoshpere, another cool view was from above looking down.

Another abstract sort of view on this, features one of my favourite photography techniques, BOKEH!!!!

Soooooo puuuuurdy....

Afterwards, I had a look at the Town Hall, and saw all of the cars streaming past me, and it hit me, how cool would it be to set the shutter for 5 seconds, and get a trail of lights throughout the photo? Here's the result, you be the judge!

By the way, all of these are SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera), so as much as I like editing, I thought it would be inappropriate to mess with the natural beauty of these photos!

Don't worry, be happy!

U2 Vs Muse Part I

Over the course of the previous decade, music styles changed drastically, in my mind, some of it for the worse. However, two bands have caught my attention as being the type that could literally last forever. As the title suggests, it could possibly be U2 and Muse. If we were to run with that hypothetical, then it leaves the question begging,

"Which band is better?"

I personally couldn't pick them apart over a short space of time, so I decided to break it up. This argument will be which band has the most awesome members! Each member will be pitted against each other, and be given a ranking out of 10. Due to the fact that U2 has 4 members to Muse's 3, U2's guitarist and lead vocals will be a tag-team effort. First off the rack, Muse's Matt Bellamy against the dynamic U2 duo of Bono and The Edge.

Both teams get points for being Irish and English respectively, sure beats the Yanks any day. Awesome guitar riffs? Check. Matt's impressive guitar solos rival The Edge's near-perfect technique, both producing mind-blowing music. The ability to sing powerful ballads that echo throughout stadiums worldwide, with a bit of falsetto on the side? Check. Bono and Matt certainly hit the right notes in this category (pardon the pun). Showmanship? Matt certainly has more stage presence than The Edge, but Bono more than compensates for that, often losing himself in the middle of crowds midway through a performance.

Verdict: A dead heat, Matt's soaring voice combined with frantic guitar playing equals that of the dynamic duo of Bono and The Edge, whose chemistry combines perfectly on stage.

U2: 10/10
Muse: 10/10

No band is complete without the drummer, thrashing the drumkit all of the time, with such precision and skill, Dominic Howard representing Muse, Larry Mullen Jr for U2. Now, the fact that Larry has 'Larry' AND 'Jr' in the same name deserves special credit, it rolls off of the tongue nicely in pronunciation. Dominic has been likened to the Muppet 'Animal' with his flair and style of playing, being compared to a Muppet certainly is an honour of the highest order. Larry portrays himself as the guy who is too cool to even be a rock star, while Dom is certainly a lot more exuberant in his demeanour. In terms of skill, Larry's drumbeats are certainly more technically difficult and plays them with ease, whilst Dom is easily the most entertaining to watch. Larry's attitude is such, that he appears like is isn't enjoying what he is doing, but is well loved by the fans anyway.

U2: 8/10
Muse: 8/10

The bassist. Arguably the most coolest guy in a rock band EVER! (I would know!) Adam Clayton for U2 just oozes cool, and Chris Wolstenholme for Muse has some of the coolest basslines in the history of the bass. Neither of these guys disappoint. Adam definitely has a different approach to Chris, playing a more groovy sort of tune, rather than trying to blast the sound out of the arena. Chris' basslines are very heavy, which provide a great backing to Matt's fine guitar work. A perfect example of the contrasting bass styles are evident in U2's Mysterious Ways, and Muse's Stockholm Syndrome. The technique and playing skill of either bassists are impeccable, but Adam has more stage presence than his counterpart Chris, often playing the 'suave' one of the band, which as a matter of fact, suits him perfectly.

U2: 9/10
Muse: 8.5/10

U2: 27/30
Muse: 26.5

Some may view that it is unfair to see Bono and The Edge as a pairing, but Muse are the ones who ultimately settled on a predominantly 3 piece band, and Matt does a superb job of combating the tag-team, ultimately it was Adam Clayton's showmanship that prevailed. This argument may be continued...

Caddyshack

Bib is one of those types who is a sports tragic, but just so happens to be lacking in possibly the most important part of them, the SKILLS. Since I put it in capitals, I thought I better think of an acronym, Superly Krappy Idiotic Loserly Loserish Skills. That about sums it up!

The golf course is one of the places where I attempt to showcase my SKILLS, and end up just becoming an entertainment outlet for all in the vicinity.

Let's check out my SKILLS!

Probably one of my better shots for the day, check out that concentration, you just can't beat those SKILLS.

Here's me again, this time auditioning for the new Baywatch movie, acclimatising and bronzing my luscious skin.

This guy will make the pro circuit, mark my words. Hopefully, if I'm really nice to him now, I can mooch off of him later on!

We were also lucky enough to have a kangaroo anatomy lesson, which was amusing to say the least...

Yeah, that's right buddy, caught in the act, you know if people do that they get arrested! You lucky roo, I salute you!

"Who, me?" As innocent as they come :)

Speed, Taxi Driver, Fast and Furious, and any other movies to do with driving

Bib (me) has been learning to drive recently, not a golf ball, not even a golf cart, but a 5 speed manual CAR!!!! Righteous.... Anyways, this has led to a finer appreciation of the art of driving a car, and not purposely running pedestrians over, then getting out of the car and collecting their cash. Grand Theft Auto? What's that? :)

But seriously folks, if the saleyards weren't the secluded area they are, well, you'd be visiting me during the state prison's visiting times 5 times a week (coz you love me that much!). Why? Let's just say that reverse goes a lot faster than one might think, I certainly wouldn't want to be an innocent bystander in a carpark that's for sure!

But I'm sure all that you're interested in is the beast that I'm taming (no it isn't some fat chick). The car, its engine roars like a bunny rabbit, brakes that squeal like a squashed cat, and, wait for it..... wind-up windows!!!

Lesson 1: Do not reverse at the same speed that you would go on a highway.

That's all for now, to all my readers, stay classy!

A New Hope

A fresh start for the man I call Bib, in case you were wondering, that's me. Like all great things, a great start to captivate the audience is the key to a long and prosperous artform. This blog is no exception.

Ok, I lied. This is the best thing I could come up with at 8:57 PM on a Sunday night. To be brutally honest, that was pathetic. BUT, there have also been plenty of great things that have started slowly, from humble beginnings, to become FREAKIN' MASSIVE SUPERSTARS!!!!!

Who the hell am I kidding? The purpose of this post is to let you all know that I am alive and well, and that the brain is functioning like a McDonalds burger patty, bloody ugly and not doing a lot of thinking. Thus concludes the commencement of what will hopefully be a much more entertaining read for all of my beloved readers (or obsessed fans).

Cheerio!
